October Ipsy Glam Bag Review- "The Art of Beauty"

My ipsy bag for the month of October finally arrived and I though I would share! As always ipsy arrived towards the end of the month in a pretty pink mailer. Despite how long it usually takes for me to receive my ipsy bag, the products definitely made up for the wait!

 

 

This month's theme was The Art of Beauty. Not my favorite theme so far but what came inside certainly didn't disappoint. My bag included:

 

~Be Delectable Body Lotion (Strawberries & Cream) ($2)- This hand cream is fantastic! It's not greasy and smells amazing! I was really excited to see this item in my bag. Who doesn't love hand cream?

 

 

 

~Zoya Nail Polish ($8) (Mason)- I've never owned a Zoya nail polish before so you can imagine my excitement when I saw this peeking out of my bag. This nail polish is from Zoya's new Fall collection, Cashmere and Satin. It's a beautiful redish purple shade with a metallic finish.

 

 

 

 

~Buxon Full-On Lip Plumper ($9) (Dolly)- I'm not a huge fan of lip glosses but I was excited to give this brand a try. This lip gloss is a beautiful baby pink shade that's very girly and fun. The only thing I don't really care for is the sensation on your lips is very tingly. Overall I do like it though.

 

 

 

 

~H2o Face Oasis Hydrating Treatment ($10)- This is my favorite product from this months bag! I'm in love! This is the first gel moisturizer I've ever tried and it's been great for my oily skin. The gel formula keeps me from breaking out but also helps to keep my face hydrated. I might consider buying the full size when I run out of this one!

 

 

~Big Sexy Hair Blow Dry Gel ($5) This product is pretty cool but I'm not convinced that it works that well. I've tried a few times and I feel like it doesn't make a huge difference. I'm ready to try some different brands. Ipsy tends to send something from Big Sexy Hair every few months and think it would be fun to get some variety.

 



 

The total value of this month's back came to $34. Not bad considering the subscription is only $10/month.

Drugstore Dupes! Softsoap Limited Edition Wintermint Snowfall Body Wash

Hello Everyone!

 

Today is going to be the first post in a new

segment I'm starting called: Drugstore Dupes!

 

I  love trying to find budget friendly

products that are very similar to more high-end

expensive products.

 

Within these posts I'll give you my thoughts on the product

and try to determine if in fact it is really a dupe!

 

 

Today I'll be reviewing this great new body wash:

Softsoap's Wintermint Snowfall

 

 

 

This new product will be going up against

 an old and very popular favorite:

Bath and Body Works Twisted Peppermint Shower Gel

 

Twisted Peppermint is described as:

Merry and bright peppermint celebrates the season with notes

of vanilla and sugary musk in this cheer-filled scent

 

Softsoap describes their body was as:

Delight in visions of a snowy wonderland as the moisture-rich

formula infuses your shower with an invigorating

mint scent.

 

 

Scent Match: A

 

Performance: A

 

Formula Similarity: C

 

Value: A+

 

Overall, the Softsoap Wintermint Snowfall Body Wash is

pretty comparable to BBW's Twisted Peppermint.

 

The scent is very close, with a nice blend of creamy

mint and sweet vanilla.

 

This shower gel performs wonderfully! It is very

creamy, moisturizing, and it lathers great on a loofa.

 

The only true difference is the formula. BBW typically

makes their body washes in fun, festive colors, and this

product is just a basic milky, white color.

 

BBW Twisted Peppermint Cost:

 $12.50 for 10fl oz

 

Softsoap Wintermint Snowfall Body Wash:

$3 to $4 for 18fl oz

 

When it comes down to it, purchasing Softsoap's

body wash is a much more budget friendly.

 

Overall, I would recommend this body wash as a great dupe for Twisted Peppermint!

Bath and Body Works Three Wick Candle Review- Pumpkin Pecan Waffles

 

Hello Everyone!

 

Today I'm going to be reviewing the Bath and Body Works 3 wick candle

in Pumpkin Pecan Waffles

 

The scent description of this candle reads:

Delight in the scrumptious scent of pumpkin pecan waffles,

pure maple syrup and a touch of brown sugar

 

This candle has been the new popular favorite for this Fall

and has been selling out like crazy! I was lucky enough

to get my hands on one and I'm a huge fan!

 

 

Burn/Performance: A+

Scent Accuracy: B

 

Scent Throw: A+




As you can see from the clip above, this candle
is still going strong even after a few days of burning.

The flames have remained high and the scent
throw has been fantastic!

The scent accuracy is pretty close to the description.
You can smell the maple syrup and brown sugar,
however there's no pumpkin!


Overall, I'm very happy with this candle.
If you are someone who enjoys warm
bakery scents, you will LOVE this candle!

Bath and Body Works Three Wick Candle Review- Apple Ale

Here is my review of the Bath and Body works Three Wick Candle

in Apple Ale

 

The scent description of this candle reads:

 

Refresh yourself on a fall day with an effervescent blend of autumn apples,

 brown sugar and cinnamon bark

 

Burn/Performance: D

Scent Accuracy: A+

 

Scent Throw: A+

 

This candle is very disappointing. After starting

out strong with a great throw and great burn

this candle really started to decline.

 

 

By the four/fifth day of burning, the wicks seemed

to die and even started extinguishing themselves.

Bummer!

 

The scent of this candle is dead on with the

description however and when it was

burning properly the scent throw was

amazing!!

Bath and Body Works Three Wick Candle Review- Pumpkin Caramel Latte

 

Hello Everyone!

 

Here is my review of the Bath and Body Works Three Wick Candle

 in Pumpkin Caramel Latte.

 

The scent description of this candle reads:

 

"Gather with friends and celebrate the season with this warm,

rich blend of creamy pumpkin, spiced caramel and sweet cream"

 

 

Burn/Performance: A+

Scent Accuracy: A-

 

Scent Throw: B+

 

Overall this candle performs flawlessly! The wax pool pulls

out evenly within about 1 hour. The flames have been

consistently tall throughout the entire burn.

 

 

The scent accuracy is pretty consistent with the description.

You can definitely pick up on the sweet cream and caramel,

however I feel that it is lacking a pumpkin scent.

 

 

The scent throw of this candle is pretty good. This isn't

the strongest candle I've ever burned however I actually

prefer it this way. This candle is very sweet and it could

easily be overwhelming if the scent throw was stronger.

Bath and Body Works Winter Candle Haul!

Hey Guys! I recently placed an order with Bath and Body Works and I picked up quite a few of their newly released winter candles.

Although I don't plan on burning these anytime soon, I figured I would share some of my thoughts on cold throw. Here are the candles I purchased:

Fresh Balsam

 



I can't think of Winter or the Holidays without thinking of this candle! Fresh Balsam is and always will be one of my favorites. This candle smells exactly like a Christmas tree,  very fresh and invigorating. You can definitely pick up on the eucalyptus and fir needles in this candle, with a slight hint of musk. Love it!

 

 

Winter Fig

 

This candle is new to me and I'm still not sure how I feel about it. I definitely pick up on the fresh fig  in this candle and also a hint of an herbal scent. This candle has somewhat of an icy, cold tone to it which really fits the winter theme.  Despite what the label say, I really don't pick up on any sugar in this candle. This one isn't my favorite, but I'm hoping to like it more once it's burning.

 Harvest Gathering

This candle hits the scent description right on the head with warm notes of pumpkin, spice, and apple. I was pleasantly surprised by this candle. I think it'll be a great candle for the transition from Fall to Winter.

Eucalyptus Spearmint Stress Relief


Yes I know, this candle technically isn't a winter scent but I was in the need of a little stress relief. This is the only candle I have burned so far and I absolutely LOVE it. The throw of this candle is incredibly strong and it tends to linger long after being blown out. I'm a little disappointed I didn't get it in the new winter packaging though.

Winter

This candle and I have a love/hate relationship. I want to love this candle so badly because I love the notes within it, but it always seems to give me headache. This candle is an interesting blend of woods with a splash of clementine. The tone of this candle is very cool, on the verge of being icy.

Vanilla Snowflake

After all the hype this candle received last year, I thought it would be worth a shot to try it out. This candle has a creamy vanilla quality to it however the scent really isn't a "foody" vanilla. To me this candle embodies the creaminess of Frosted Cupcake with mint and coconut mixed it. If you're a fan of vanilla, you will probably like this candle.

Sparkling Icicles
This candle is beautiful! It sounds silly but this is probably the prettiest candle of the bunch. The wax is a gorgeous icy blue color and the ice skates on the label are very cute! Scent wise I really don't get any citrus or bergamont from this candle. To me it mostly smells like a woman's perfume.

Snow Day

Can I please just take a minute to express my LOVE for this candle. Perfection, Perfection, Perfection! It's safe to say that is one is my #1 favorite of all the candles I've purchased for this winter. This candle seamlessly blends peppermint, spruce, and sweet vanilla. Fresh Balsam meets Twisted Peppermint. If you only buy one candle this winter, this is the one to get!

Evergreen

 This candle is a classic pine scent that is very strong and potent. I don't love this scent as much as Fresh Balsam, however I do enjoy it enough to buy it every year. I'm absolutely loving the wax color this year as well! It's a gorgeous dark emerald color that's even prettier in person. 

I also purchased this candle in a mini. So cute!

 

 

Nutmeg and Spice

 

Although this candle is technically a Fall scent, I feel like it will be a great transition candle from Fall into Winter. This candle is a warm, cozy blend of spicy caramel and nutmeg. I love this candle because the typical caramel you find in Bath and Body Works candles is super sweet and syrupy. This candle however has a delicious subtle caramel that is blended nicely with different spices.

 

Spiced Wreath (available in stores, not yet online in 3 wick)

Cinnamon, cinnamon, and more cinnamon! I honestly expected more from this candle. I really don't get any apple or vanilla from this candle, it's mostly just cinnamon. Why they didn't include in wreath or bayberry in this candle is just a mystery to me. It is called "spiced wreath"

 

 

Frosted Cranberry

 

After not seeing this candle on the list of winter candles, I was so excited to see this candle online! This candle is a staple for the winter season. Blending cranberries, vanilla, peach, and raspberry, this candle is just delicious!

 

 

There have been some obvious changes to Frosted Cranberry when comparing it to last years candle. This year's candle has a darker, maroon colored wax that I feel really captures the look of this candle. You can also see that the notes of the candle have been changed to include more fruits. Overall, I think the change greatly improves this candle.

Tis The Season

This candle is a classic scent for the Holidays! I decided to pick this candle up in a mini, because I still have an unused three-wick left over from last year. This candle is rich in apples, cider, and cinnamon but I don't get any hint of green pine as the label suggests.

Marshmallow Fireside

Sweet, toasty, and scrumptious what's not to love about Marshmallow Fireside? I already have this candle in a three wick, but I thought the label was so cute I had to get a mini as well.

 

I also picked up this holiday candle sleeve at my local store. So cute!
